Los Angeles, CA, (March 8, 2023): Horizon Educational is proud to announce the launch of the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix Pro (H2GP) Midwest region.
Through partnerships from Illinois Science and Technology Coalition (ISTC), BayoTech, University of Michigan, Constellation, and GTI Energy, 5 schools in Illinois, Michigan and Missouri will take part in the inaugural Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix Pro (H2GP) Midwest series. The H2GP initiative is a global school-based science and engineering program run by Horizon Educational, providing hands-on experience designing, engineering and racing radio-controlled fuel cell electric vehicles powered by hydrogen. Students taking part gain employable skills in science and technology while also developing competence in critical thinking, creativity and teamwork.
The first H2GP Midwest race will kick off on March 30th in Illinois, with a regional final taking place later on in the year. The top team will qualify for the World Final to be held later this year.
Seeking local support, Horizon Educational engaged the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition (ISTC) to coordinate races and to engage with students via their strong connections with schools throughout the state.
“ISTC is proud to partner with Horizon Educational in launching the inaugural H2GP race series in the Midwest,” said Rebecca Goldberg, Director, ISTC Education. “This unique collaboration between company and community resources provides the perfect opportunity to engage students in STEM experiences and opportunities that will feed their confidence to enter the next generation of clean energy careers.”
“We're thrilled to expand the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix to the Midwest”, said Kamil Jelinek, CEO of Horizon Educational. “Hundreds of schools in 20 countries are already taking part in H2GP, and we believe learners in the Midwest will love learning about renewable energy through the fun and excitement of hydrogen-powered racing”.
Horizon Educational and ISTC look forward to expanding renewable energy education to schools across the Midwest over the coming years.
