‘We encountered some problems with our software during the race and our bespoke electronic devices in the car. But we overcame these problems with teamwork - teamwork is the most important thing we have that allows us to win’.

‘H2GP is a great opportunity to see innovative applications of hydrogen and also introduce this technology to children at the same time’ said Mary Esther Ascheri, Group Leader at Fraunhofer IWU Referenzfabrik.H2. ‘We’re excited to introduce this technology to more students in our community’.

The hydrogen-powered race challenged teams to use every scrap of knowledge gained over the six-month H2GP educational program – including hydrogen chemistry, mechanical engineering, data analytics and much more – to creatively solve problems as a team and keep their cars on the track.

The Design Award – given to the team whose creativity and ingenuity drive them to create the best-looking car body – was taken home by EGE HYDROFOXES 2.

The Energy Award – given to the team who uses the least amount of hydrogen over the most laps – was awarded to EGE HYDROFOXES.

EGE HYDFOXES 2 took home the Innovation Award, awarded to the team that used the most advanced modifications and innovative features to their car.

The Presentation Award was won by HYDROGENE VALEE, who gave the best oral presentation to the judges explaining how they built their hydrogen-powered car.

This event was staged in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IWU, an institute dedicated to driving innovation by facilitating cooperation between industry and academia. Horizon Educational thanks Dr.-Ing. Ulrike Beyer and her team at Referenzfabrik.H2 for facilitating the race.
